Project Overview:

Centro Hotel is a modern, minimalist destination with a quirky vibe. It has two restaurants, Perch on the ground floor Bloom on the terrace. ELT’s work involved integrating greens into these spaces to enhance the experience of the visitor.

Space optimisation and flexibility were of topmost priority. For this reason, we used several large potted plants on the periphery at Perch. We introduced a set of movable, multi-layered planters on wheels that could easily be shifted to form vision barriers, makeshift passages or simply serve as visual treats. The plant species selected for Perch were mainly tropical varieties that included Alpinia, Dracaena, Syngonium, Ferns with varying heights but similar form.

Bloom, the terrace restaurant, overlooks the green streets of Pune. Here, we introduced a variety of plant systems that would save floor space but still give the desired, wild effect. The ceiling was transformed into a trellis that supported climbers that were trained to cover the entire ceiling space. Three out of the four sides of the terrace were fitted with our vertical garden system that ensured privacy for the guests but did not entirely obstruct the view of the city. The wall adjacent to the entrance of the restaurant was fitted with our green wall system to ensure continuity and tie the space together. The plant species selected for Bloom included large, medium and small tropical varieties including Crinum lily, Philodendron, Calathea, Alocasia, Pothos, etc.

Our diverse planting system gave us the unique opportunity to use difference planes and surfaces which helped save floor space, introduced flexibility in the layout and created a green haven for our clients and their customers.
